The biggest problem for Alabama is the system of the conference championship same with Ohio State 2016.

1. SEC needs to play 9 games
2. They should take the best 2 teams and get rid of divisions
3. Tie breaker should be overall record then playoff poll or just playoff poll.

Had it used this format maybe Alabama would be in the game and be more deserving of a shot at the SEC title game, same with Ohio State 2015 and 2016. Instead a 2 loss team went to the conference championship over a 1 loss team.

I would say it depends on the situation. Had FSU or LSU been better teams and Alabama didn't lose the very last game to the only solid team they played I could see the argument.

The other factor is if you have a bunch of FSU 2005s winning conferences, then you have to go with the non champs for sure. This hasn't happened yet but I am sure it will especially with the retarded format of all the championships outside of the Big 12.
