i prefer rand paul to either donald or ted

but i would vote for either of the three over clinton.....

I'm not sure it's possible to distinguish Billary from Obama or Bush 43 to be honest. What we need is a candidate that honestly and truly is for the betterment of the people he or she is elected to represent. It's been years since that's been the case. Honestly, I think Bernie is our best bet for being represented by our representatives.

havent you learned your lesson about this current group of liberals by now?

You mean Hillary or Obama? Hardly! Those people are, and many of those who consider themselves "progressives", anything but liberal.

Maaaaaybe. I'm not sure I can get 100% behind a libertarian agenda. I'm also not sure Rand has his old man's idealism.

Rand is more "typical Republican" than is father, which will help him in the primaries, but hurt him in the national election. I think his dad's stance on a lot of issues was more appealing to liberal-leaning folk.

I think Trump will continue to follow the Newt/Perry path (i.e. failure imminent):

I think it will come down to Bush, Walker, and some middle-of-the-pack guy who makes a late push.

One can only hope. It sounds like an insane thing to say, but I think a Bush might be the least worse options among the current crop of Republican candidates.

You're absolutely right on that account. I can't wrap my head around complete deregulation et al so I'd have difficulty voting libertarian, but Ron's human policies had very broad appeal.

It sounds insane because it is.

Ask me how I felt about my kindergartener bringing home common core math last fall, how there are four of us in the family who aren't exactly chumps at math and how all four of us looked at this "so called math" with complete dumbfoundedness and I'll tell you what I think of Jeb Bush.

I think the idea is laudable, but the problem is that society is full of humans and humans are inherently self-serving. I think from a societal perspective it's important that there be some protections for the minority from the majority, and that same concept extends to the corporate level. Complete deregulation of businesses with little to no oversight will result is a race again to the bottom and create a greater class divide (the true division in our society, not race, gender et al). Also, and I know that this is an unpopular sentiment in America, but we need to have a welfare society in the sense that there's a safety net provided to those that need help. This shouldn't be confused with welfare as a lifestyle (it so often is), but I prefer a model where we all pay a bit more and are better taken care of as a community when needed (lower retirement age and reliable social security). The fact of the matter is we can't all live as individuals and for the individual when we are in fact so reliant on each other in so many ways.

A progressive is someone who has hijacked the liberal label (remember, liberalism is very close ideologically to libertarianism) but has very fascistic and dictatorial tendencies. These are the kinds of people who believe in the “ends justify the means” credo and will police language and actions to force others into their way of thinking because they simply know best. This has become very, very common in places such as college campuses and media editorial rooms.

bigger government, more money goes to the government more tax money comes from the middle class and goes to the lower class via welfare or other nanny-state methods, thus equalizing the middle class and the lower class to a certain extent

sounds alot like communism to me, even if its not full blown, its heading down that path

None. NONE of what I have seen is applicable in ANY function of life. It's absolute garbage and it will not prepare them for REAL WORLD applications. If you brought the way they teach this kind of math into any branch of the military or corporate environment they'd tell you the men's bathroom needs to be cleaned.

We worked on a problem one night that had me getting torches lit and pitch forks sharpened. I finally said fuck it and posted it to facebook to see if ANYONE on earth could figure it out. A buddy of mine, an Aero Space engineer at Lockheed Martin, wrote back and provided the answer and when I asked him how he arrived at it, you know what he said? "I had to walk to my kids classroom last year, address the teacher with the problem, and have her explain it to me."

When he saw my post he just started laughing and said that's the shit show I had to deal with last year with my kid.

I will never vote for that motherfucker, Jeb Bush. I don't care if he's the only one on the ticket.
