They have a total five 4 star recruits going back 5 recruiting cycles per Rivals. Every other recruit is 2 or 3 star.

That shit doesn't always matter, you think Nebraska was tearing up recruiting in the 90s? How about Boise State, TCU, Utah and Oregon?

Yes, I do.
Primarily from a depth standpoint. Think about it. OSU has 4 and 5 stars starting. Then they rotate in more 4 stars and probably some 5 stars and maybe a 3 star or two. Teams starting 3 stars rotating in 2 stars cannot hang for 4 quarters. Exceptions happen, it's college football.
Not all 5 stars are going to work out and some 3 stars will develop very well (Lamar Jackson comes to mind). Hell Baker Mayfield was a walk-on.
From top to bottom for all 85 player rosters, it does matter when playing a team with lesser talent from top to bottom.

Nebraska was using a bunch of underrated guys and walkons sprinkled in with a few highly regarded guys and kicked everyone's ass.

Do we really want UCF to win?
from a team perspective, I like UCF (I went there for 2 semesters) but from a CFP standpoint, I don't want to see CFP have to start including these teams. Every P5 team start re-scheduling weak ass schedules. It is already happening. This will fuck up college football in the current 4 team playoff mode.
On the other hand, if UCF wins and completely shakes it up to make the NCAA include 8 teams I would be OK with that.
