Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will join Jeremy Pruitt's staff at Tennessee according to multiple reports.
Kelly was brought in as FSU's linebackers coach during the 2013 season after spending seven years at Georgia Tech.
Pruitt was the Seminoles' defensive coordinator and secondary coach during the 2013 season before he left to become Georgia's defensive coordinator.
When Pruitt left Tallahassee following the 2013 season, Kelly was promoted to defensive coordinator and moved to the secondary, where he had previously worked.
Kelly was FSU's defensive coordinator from 2014-2017.
His defenses allowed 23.7 points per game against Power-5 opponents during his time at FSU.
He was not expected to be retained before FSU coach Jimbo Fisher left for Texas A&M and new FSU coach Willie Taggart did not retain him as he continues to put together his new staff.
Kelly is expected to become the special teams coach as well as have some defensive responsibilities as well.
