Who else?

He gets all the croots. Also, teams have greatly improved everywhere he's been.

More:
Spoiler:
He took Western Kentucky from 2-10, to 7-5, and 7-5, winning 14 of his final 20 games there and upset Kentucky. He set up the roster for Bobby Petrino and for Jeff Brohm, both of whom also used it to jump to better jobs.

Under Skip Holtz, USF went from 8-5, to 5-7, to 3-9. The program was a disaster. Taggart came in and went 2-10, signed a great recruiting class, went 4-8, signed another, then went 8-5, and 10-2 (USF went 11-2, but Taggart didn’t coach the bowl). He was 21-4 in his final 25 games at USF. He set up Charlie Strong with probably the best G5 roster in America.

Now he is on pace to bring in the best recruiting class Oregon has ever had, and by a huge margin.

Taggart is from the Harbaugh coaching tree, including coaching at Stanford from 2007-09. He has shown a great ability to adapt his offensive philosophy, most notably at USF, where he started out attempting to run a pro-style system, realized that did not fit with the type of talents he could sign with the Bulls, and switched to a power spread, scoring a ton of points in the process.

Only other realistic option on that list is Franklin. I wouldn't want any of the others. Lane would be nice for trolling purposes, but I'd rather win.

I agree with most but let’s be honest. He didn’t do anything at USF, Leavitt didn’t already do years earlier and nothing at Oregon (so far) that Kelley didn’t do. Actually Helfrich had 3 of his 4 years better than Taggert’s first year.

I’m not saying he’s a bad coach. He’s just not the “name” I think we can get. I am mainly excited about the recruiting and philosophy.

I haven’t really read that much on him. I appreciate yours and Muck’s input. I just don’t know.

I don’t know who the “name” is. Leach, Petersen, Gruden but i guess I’d be ok with Taggart

Taggert strength is recruiting and he will have a top 10 class easily. It all depends on who he gets on his staff.

I think fuente is probably a better gameday coach but idk how well he would recruit down here

Okay, Gruden it is! Maybe we offer Saban $15M/yr? :lolthumb

Who is this "name" you're thinking of?

He didn't do anything Leavitt didn't do, eh? Did Leavitt ever win 10 games? How about 11? No? Did he give them the most stacked roster the program has ever had? No? Did he ever improve the win total by 8 in just 4 years? No? Ever? No?

And yes, he's already done something at Oregon Kelly never did: bring in the school's best recruiting class in history. Not bad for 1 year there. Also, Oregon was essentially worse every year under Helfrich (Oregon's Larry Coker...without the title). Taggart was brought in to clean up his mess. Win total improve by 4+, recruiting class noted above. Check and check, mate.

Since we should be paying our HC less than what we are currently paying Fisher, can we PLEASE spend that extra money on assistants? For reference, Clemson DC Brent Venables makes $1.7M/yr!

Sorry I don’t have the same raging hard for a 7-5 coach in a shitty conference. The same raging hard you and all of TN have.

Recruiting class isn’t closed yet.

Here is what I see:

16-20 shitty conference
24-25 shitty conference
7-5 shitty conference

We are going to bank our program on a 47-50 coach. Save me the he built them up stuff. Shitty conferences are shitty. I hope a decent coach can win in those conferences. He never won 11 (he did not coach bowl) so not sure why that was mentioned. Sure it was 6-7 South Carolina, but come on you or I could coach that game. His last amazing year at USF included getting destroyed by the only competitive team they faced (FSU).

I’d be more excited if he had more than 1 great year on his resume.

The ONLY reason I am excited is for recruiting and because Kelly will no longer be there.
