Completely different scenario, that would be more like asking if LSU should be ahead of Auburn or Syracuse ahead of Pitt.

You can't compare Iowa with Ohio State because Ohio State performed much better in the rest of the games Alabama did not. If not for having to play an extra team and they both stopped at 12 then Auburn would definitely be ahead of them.
